Inspire People Professionals is a National Academy Programme delivered in partnership with the CIPD, the Local Government Association, and Regional Employers Organisations combining the essentials of Human Resources, Organisational Development and Design.

As authorities set about post-Covid recovery, this new Academy is helping local government HR and OD professionals to be at the heart of those changes. The first graduates have clearly been inspired by what they have learned (see our Inspire Case Study for more details!).

The pandemic has brought into sharp focus the critical role HR and OD professionals play in enabling local authorities to quickly adapt and reshape the way they work. It highlights a growing need to invest in the development of people professionals so that they can shift from a reactive role to becoming leaders of strategic change in their organisations – as evidenced by the recent Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD) report, People Profession 2030.

With that in mind, West Midlands Employers (WME), the CIPD and the Local Government Association (LGA) have launched the Inspire People Professionals Academy and are now OPEN for Applications for its September 2023 cohort.

It’s fair to say world of work is more dynamic than ever before, we have experienced unprecedented changes and organisations have been required to change and adapt with pace to the environment around them.

What sits at the heart of all this?……. People.

To enable these changes the people profession has been required to evolve and respond with high levels of professionalism. The people profession needs to be more agile than ever before, we need to be future focused, we need to ensure we adopt an evidence based approach to inform future business decisions, and we need to create impact.

To enable all of this we need to put capability development at the forefront of the agenda, that we are creating accountability for individuals development. During this session we will talk through how West Midland Employers have been addressing these capability requirements with their Inspire HR/OD Development Programme, and the impact it has created for individuals and organisation.
